Halt the Rezoning of Lincolnwood School Property

Halt the Rezoning of Lincolnwood School Property

The Issue

The Lincolnwood School property is more than just a place of education. It is an integral part of our 6th ward community, serving as a cherished green space  and playground where families, friends, and neighbors can come together. Unfortunately, plans are unfolding as part of Envision Evanston that threaten to rezone this property into a residential area, making it possible for the school board to eventually sell off the land.

The transformation of community spaces into residential areas is a growing concern across the country. According to the National Recreation and Park Association, accessible green spaces improve community cohesion, mental health, and physical wellbeing.

Our Lincolnwood School property is such a place where memories have been created for generations. Changing its zoning not only changes the physical layout of our community but also strips us of a communal space that adds to the quality of our lives and the value of our experiences.

We must not allow this to happen. Our community's unique identity is worth preserving. Let us stand together. Sign this petition to halt the rezoning of the Lincolnwood School property, preserving it as the valuable community asset it has always been. Sign now, and let our collective voices be heard.
