Daniel Kálmán Biss is an American mathematician and politician currently serving as the mayor of Evanston, Illinois. A prominent figure in Illinois politics, he is a member of the Democratic Party. Biss has a strong academic background, holding a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before his tenure as mayor, he served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013 and as a State Senator in the Illinois Senate from 2013 to 2019. Biss has also worked as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Chicago, showcasing his expertise in both public service and academia.
