I am a long-time resident of Wyoming, NY, our delightful village that many of us call home because of its unique charm. Besides our pictureseqe gaslights, we have a multitude of trees dotting our sidewalks and roads. It is disheartening to uncover that there are plans to fell these trees for concrete reasons. 

These trees not only provide us with shade, increase our property values, and contribute aesthetically to our community, but they are vital to the local ecosystem.  The proposal to cut them down might address some short-term issues related to sidewalk maintenance or expansion, but it has the potential to negatively impact the long-term well-being of our community, including key aspects such as air quality, temperature regulation, and habitat provision for local wildlife.

Let's come together as a community to protect these important natural treasures. Instead, we should explore alternative solutions to address sidewalk-related concerns, rather than conducting a wholesale removal of these important trees. We must urge the local authority to rethink this plan.
