Halt the Proposed Solar Field Project in Lindley, NY

The Issue

I reach out to you today not only as a fellow resident of Lindley, NY, but also as a neighbor directly impacted by the proposed Solar Field Project by Dennis Ryan. We are proud of our town and the serenity it offers, and we certainly support renewable energy solutions. However, this large-scale project threatens to overshadow our small community literally and figuratively.

This development could significantly alter the character of our town, impact wildlife, and potentially depreciate property values. According to a study on the impact of solar farms on property values by the University of Rhode Island, properties adjacent to solar farms depreciated in value by 1-7% (Reed et al., 2021). Moreover, the infrastructure changes, as well as the possible aesthetic impact, could detract from what makes Lindley unique.

While we understand the need for clean energy, the scale and location of this particular project might not be in the best interest of our community. We believe there are alternative locations better suited for such a project, which won't disrupt the peace and harmony that we value in Lindley.

Therefore, we urge our town officials and representatives to reconsider this project, prioritize the voices of Lindley's residents, and ensure our concerns are genuinely addressed before allowing progression. Join us in calling for a pause and reevaluation of the Solar Field Project in Lindley, NY. Please sign this petition today.
