The Issue

As residents of Birmingham Farms neighborhood who are affected by the proposed Robertson Homes development on the 13-acre lot near Temple Beth El on Telegraph Rd., we’ve decided to actively oppose the project. This hit close to home due to a number of serious consequences that our beloved community would be forced to endure. These include:

1. Overcrowding and lack of green space. The proposed community of 38 homes is overcrowded, with no shared green space.

2. Sewage and drainage issues. The development is expected to flow through the existing sewage and drainage systems in the neighborhood, causing known problems like sewage and basement flooding.

3. Noise pollution. The proximity of the development to Telegraph Road is expected to lead to increased noise pollution in the subdivision.

4. Lack of neighborhood integration. The proposed gated community with no shared green space is seen as not inclusive of the existing subdivision.

Our community, rich in both history and natural beauty, has always valued and treasured its green spaces and quiet setting for their positive impact on residents' quality of life. Our tranquil living environment is under threat from this proposed development and we, as a community, believe the potential negative outcomes far outweigh any possible benefits.

Through this petition, we are urging our board of trustees and other relevant authorities to halt the proposed development and instead, look towards alternatives that embrace sustainable growth, safeguard our natural resources and uphold the character and integrity of our neighborhood.

Our proposed actions include:

 1. Reduce the number of proposed homes being built (38). This is an overcrowded proposed gated community with no shared green space.

 2. Provide sewage/drainage relief for the entire sub.

 3. Build a berm on Telegraph to reduce the noise to our subdivision.

 4. Make the development more inclusive to our subdivision by providing access and green space to our neighborhood.

We stand united against the Robertson Homes development. Protect our neighborhood and its irreplaceable traits by signing this petition today.

Please attend the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on September 30th at 7:00 PM at the Bloomfield Township Hall. Address: 4200 Telegraph Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302. Your attendance is greatly needed!
