The Issue

As local residents of this area, we are directly affected by the plans of establishing a data center in our region. This project could significantly disturb our daily lives, especially since it not only has potential health implications but also threatens to increase our utility bills.

In our area, land availability is sparse and housing is already limited. Introducing a data center project, which is generally large-scale, would intensify the shortage of land and housing that locals are currently facing. These complications would further burden the residents and aggravate the existing living conditions.

The reality is, this project doesn’t appear to benefit the taxpayers. It rather seems to be a venture run for the interest of a few, dismissing the welfare of the many. As per 'The Conversation' research, considering the substantial power consumption of data centers, local residents can expect a hike in their utility bills (The Conversation, 2018). This, coupled with potential health risks associated with large-scale electrical developments, affords no tangible benefits for the residents of our area.

It is in light of these concerns that we appeal to the responsible authorities to reconsider their plans for a data center in our area. This is about the wellbeing of our community and our right to have a say in matters that significantly impact us. Join us in opposing this development and prioritising the lives, health, and welfare of our community. Sign this petition to halt the proposed data center construction.
