I am one of the millions of American citizens who heavily rely on vital assistance programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and Social Security to gain access to healthcare. Like the elderly and disabled in our society, who should not be put at risk of homelessness to accommodate tax cuts for the richest among us, these programs act as indispensable lifelines for me.

The issue at hand is that House Republicans are proposing to cut these crucial programs to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals. If these proposals hold, the consequences of such actions will be dire. For instance, the cut in Medicare alone could affect around 60 million people who depend on it for their health coverage (Kaiser Family Foundation). Meanwhile, approximately 38 million low-income Americans could be left with scant food resources if SNAP underwent the proposed funding cuts (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities).

Furthermore, the Center for American Progress reports that about 70% of voters oppose cuts to Medicaid. It is clear that the public is concerned about the devastating impacts these cuts could bring to our society.

Let's stand united in the face of these harmful proposals.
