Halt the Proposed Closure of North Hi Mount, South Hi Mount and Stripling!

The Issue

Our children's education is under threat! Our local gems, North Hi Mount Elementary (nestled in the middle of North Hi Mount, Monticello and Crestwood) , South Hi Mount Elementary, and Stripling Middle School located at the heart of the historic Arlington Heights Neighborhood have been marked for potential closure or reorganization under the recent FWISD Strategic Facilities Master Plan. This devastating move not only threatens the quality of our kids' education, but the very fibers of our community.

Why This Matters:

Disrupting Education: School closures force students to relocate, often leading to overcrowded classrooms, longer commutes, more buses and disruption of vital student-teacher relationships. These campuses are growing with active transfers into the schools due to the extraordinary campus culture, educational opportunity (higher academic achievement) as well as strong P.T.A. engagement!

Community Impact: These three neighborhood schools serve as hubs for community engagement, after-school programs, and local events. Closing them weakens our communities. One example is the North Hi Mount Fall Carnival that serves multiple neighborhoods in a free and inclusive effort for safe family fun!

Equity and Access: These 3 affected schools serve diverse and underprivileged populations. School closures disproportionately impact low-income families, making it harder for students to receive the education they deserve.

Financial Considerations: While cost savings may be cited as a reason, the long-term consequences—such as increased transportation costs, declining property values, and loss of neighborhood stability—outweigh the short-term benefits.

Our Demands:

1.Halt the planned closures of North Hi Mount Elementary, South Hi Mount Elementary and Stripling Middle Schools and conduct a transparent reassessment of alternatives that prioritize students' well-being.
2.Engage parents, teachers, and community stakeholders in meaningful discussions about the future of our schools.
3.Explore alternative budget solutions that do not involve shutting down these vital community institutions. There are OTHER options!

Take Action: We call on all parents, students, educators, and concerned community members to sign this petition and demand that Fort Worth ISD prioritize our children's futures over financial cuts. Stand with us to protect our schools and ensure every child has access to a stable and supportive learning environment.

The call is simple: Protect North Hi Mount Elementary, South Hi Mount Elementary and Stripling Middle School! SAVE the Arlington Heights Pyramid to protect our children's future, and preserve our community. We urge the FWISD to reconsider the facilities master plan and find other solutions to meet its goals without jeopardizing our children's education and our community's welfare. Option 3 from the Task Force allows for facilities investment into our historic schools without closure or re-organization.  We urge you to sign this petition, to stand with us in this fight for our children's right to quality, local education.
