Halt the Proposed Chick-fil-A Construction at Villa Metro on Soledad

The Issue

We, residents of Villa Metro, are deeply concerned about the proposed construction of a Chick-fil-A restaurant next to our community on Soledad. This project threatens not only our daily lives but also the value of our properties and the quality of our environment.

The proposed location for this fast-food chain is set to cause significant traffic congestion in an area already known for its busy streets. According to a study by INRIX, Santa Clarita ranks 14th in the nation for cities with populations under 250,000 with traffic congestion problems. The addition of a popular eatery like Chick-fil-A will undoubtedly exacerbate these issues. We are also concerned that the traffic flow will force traffic to use our main entryway to make a u turn to go East on Soledad and this will cause extreme safety issues for our community.

Moreover, we fear that this development will lead to crowd control problems and safety issues. With an influx of visitors drawn by the restaurant, there is potential for increased noise levels and disturbances that could disrupt our peaceful neighborhood.

Furthermore, we are worried about air pollution resulting from increased vehicle emissions due to traffic jams and idling cars in drive-thrus. The American Lung Association's "State of the Air" report has previously given Los Angeles County an 'F' grade for ozone pollution; adding another source of air pollution would be detrimental to both our health and environment.

We understand that businesses have a right to grow; however, they should not do so at the expense of residents' peace and wellbeing. We urge local decision-makers to reconsider allowing this project from going through as it stands now - it's simply too high a price for us living here in Villa Metro.
