I'm writing to you not just as a resident of Kanab, Utah but as an advocate for yurts and the empowering culture of glamping. A recent ban has put a full stop to the unique experience of glamping in our wonderful town. This action is a step backward when we should be looking forward to sustainable and innovative ways of living and recreating. 

Glamping remains on the upward curve, finding a sweet spot for people in between traditional camping and luxury resorts. It allows one to bask in the beauty of our grand outdoors while also enjoying the comforts usually found at home. Yurts, a cornerstone of glamping culture, offer a distinctive and cozy shelter that enhances this outdoor experience. Yet, they are under threat with this prohibitive legislation.

According to the Outdoor Industry Association, almost 78.8 million US residents went camping in 2018, and a significant portion of those campers turned to glamping due to its unique blend of outdoors and comfort (Outdoor Industry Association, 2019). Given its rising popularity across the nation, it is counterintuitive to ban glamping, including yurts, in our hometown—a town known for its natural beauty and love for the outdoors.

This ban could potentially limit tourism revenue and discard an opportunity for locals and tourists alike to connect with our vibrant natural environment in a whole new light. This petition aims to help our town embrace its potential as a place for outdoor enthusiasts who seek a unique, comfortable nature experience.
