Halt the Planned Mental Health and Disability Income Cuts in Davenport

The Issue

This issue hits close to home for us, as I firmly believe that mental health services should be accessible to everyone. It is outrageous that the board of supervisors in Davenport are planning to slash the budget for mental health and disability income by more than 3 million dollars. This is not only a massive loss to our community wellness but also an absolute disregard of the rights and needs of vulnerable citizens amongst us.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness (51.5 million in 2019). The prevalence of mental health concerns is real and on the rise, necessitating more, not fewer, resources devoted to mental health and disability services. With such planned budget cuts, indispensable services could be at risk, ultimately putting our community's mental health at stake.

By signing this petition, you are voicing your opposition against this budget cut and calling on the board of supervisors to reconsider their plan. We urge the Davenport board of supervisors to prioritize mental health and disability funding and protect our community's well-being. Please sign the petition and join this fight for accessibility to essential services.
