We are a collective of Huntersville natives, born and raised, bonded with common sentiments and countless cherished memories of our beloved Birkdale Village. For many of us, it has been the heart of our community, a place where connections were built and experiences were shared. However, recent plans to expand Birkdale Village deeply concern us on both personal and community levels.

The proposed changes threaten to dilute the richness of our collective memories and experiences, compromising the community of the space. The plans not only rob the next generation of the very experience that has shaped us, but also potentially harm our town in more tangible ways. Birkdale's expansion could accelerate our town's already immense overcrowding problem. This densification risk is not just an inconvenience – it could negatively impact the overall quality of life in our town.

According to recent data, Huntersville is among the fastest-growing towns in North Carolina ("Huntersville 2030 Community Plan"). Our infrastructure is already being tested through this growth, and forcing more expansion could inevitably tip it over the edge.

Building on our memories—literally—does not only mean physical expansion but also brings with it the impending danger of overcrowding and, perhaps, the erosion of the very essence of what we hold dear - our hometown charm.
