Speaking from personal experience and on behalf of many others in a similar situation, the government's changes to winter fuel payments for pensioners directly impact us. Along with many of my friends, we own homes that are old, requiring additional heating to stay warm during the harsh winter months. The proposed alterations overlook pensioners who may own properties but continue to scrape by on minimal budgets, just because we don't qualify for other benefits. We are tax-paying retirees who have dedicated decades of service to our society, many of us even defending our country with our lives. We deserve an equal right to winter fuel payments. Around 11.5 million pensioners received winter fuel payments in 2018/19 in the UK, proving just how crucial this assistance is. Faithfully, we ask for your support in petitioning the government to halt these proposed changes and respect the needs of all pensioners, whether they receive additional benefits or not.
