I am a 14 year old horse ridder, I love to ride horses and love how each horse has there on individual personality emotions and felling.  I visited a horse shelter and saw so many starving animals that have been saved from horrible situations. I saw many horse when I was there; one of them was Marina. She is a true black 15hh quarter horse. She was saved from almost being killed so to starvation early 2023 when her owner decided not to fead her. She was brought to the rescue and was as skinny as she could be and terrified that somone was going to hurt her or take her food away. I fosters her and then adopted her this year. Marina is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. She is slowly learning to trust people again and is living her best life. Marina is not the only horse that this has happened to and most of the time is doesn’t end good.  The thought of them being starved to death or soled to slaughter is  horrible.

In 2020 alone, an estimated 19,989 horses were reported to have died due to slaughter in the United States. And about 6 horse die EVERYDAY do to starvation. 50% of race horses get shipped to slaughter thats HALF! These statistics are not just numbers; it represents lives lost, and unfulfilled. WHY is it LEGAL To sell a sick/injure/and or dying horse?! There more then “just an animal” they have feelings and lives. 

Horse slaughter and or starvation (bolth lead to death) is not only cruel but also unnecessary. There are more humane alternatives available such as adoption or rescue organizations that can provide care and shelter for these animals instead of sending them to slaughterhouses or leaving them for dead. 

The time has come for us to raise our voices against this brutal act and advocate for change. We need stricter laws that protect horses from being slaughtered/abused/and or starved!  and promote their welfare instead. They need us NOW!
