I am deeply moved to start this petition due to a recent incident involving actress Melissa Barrera. Melissa was unjustly dismissed from the movie Scream 7 after expressing her views against the war in Palestine, and was wrongfully labeled as anti-semitic. This is not just about one actress; it's about millions of people worldwide who share her perspective that calling for a ceasefire against genocide is not an act of anti-semitism.

The owners of the Scream franchise have shown their implicit support for genocide by firing an individual who spoke out against it. This action sends a chilling message that dissenting voices will be silenced, which goes against our fundamental rights to freedom of speech and expression.

Over 14,500 Palestinians have been killed since 7 Oct 2023 (approx. 67% are women and children). By labeling those who speak up against such atrocities as 'anti-semitic', we risk stifling important discussions around human rights abuses and perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

We call on movie theaters globally and streaming giant Netflix to stop screening Scream 7 and the full Scream franchise until this issue is adequately addressed.
