I, a resident near the proposed area of the I-685 beltway, personally feel the disdain this development will bring to our community in Winston-Salem, NC, USA. A project of this nature will not only disrupt peaceful living but also tarnishes our precious natural habitats. The proposed construction will produce an unsightly view and a constant source of noise pollution, leading to a drastic reduction in the quality of our homes and environment.

Building this beltway was never a necessity. Our current transportation infrastructure can adequately accommodate our community's need for mobility. Besides, this project involves significant disruption of both human life and nature. Increasingly, infrastructure projects are being recognized for the negative impact they have on local ecosystems. Notably, when highways cut through habitats, they lead to habitat fragmentation, this is one of the greatest threats to biodiversity.

The frivolous nature of this development has been displayed in the corresponding already completed section of the project. The existing section of I 685 has extremely low usage, demonstrating how unnecessary this is whole thing is. The NCDOT is trying to create demand for something that clearly doesn't exist. 

Furthermore, noise pollution from highways impacts both humans and wildlife, impairing communication and causing stress. We must take a stand against hasty and uncalled-for infrastructure projects that do more harm than good.
