My story starts 35 years ago, when I first swung my club on the historic greens of the Peace Portal Golf Course. Since then, it has become more than just a game, but a home away from home. This long-standing golf course, opened in 1928 and enjoys a rich history, close to 100 years of serving golf enthusiasts and families alike, but now is under threat of development. This development project, designed for personal gain, disregards the sanctity of this treasured land. The Peace Portal Golf Course is rated in the top 100 public courses in Canada by Canada's Golf Ranking Magazine. and continues to thrive within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). This preservation is not only integral to maintain the nostalgia and tradition of our beloved golf course but also ensures the stewardship of vital agricultural lands, providing food for our communities. It's crucial that we honor and uphold the land use designated by the ALR in order to preserve these spaces for future generations. We ask, therefore, that the powers that be halt the proposed development of The Hills at Peace Portal Golf Course, preserving it not only for the tens of thousands of golf lovers but for the beauty and sustainability of our local land.
