Halt the Demolition of Surrey Quays Leisure Park

The Issue

Surrey Quays Leisure Park holds an irreplaceable place in my heart as well as the hearts of many others in our community. Cherished memories were built at Hollywood Bowl, ODEON cinema, and Pizza Hut, serving as the backdrop of our childhoods, our family celebrations, and our fun days out with friends. Unsurprisingly, Surrey Quays still remains our go-to spot for these very occasions. It is vital for us to preserve and maintain these places of entertainment. We want to ensure the generation after us gets the same opportunities for joy and camaraderie as we did. Unfortunately, Surrey Quays Leisure Park is under threat.

The fretful news of Southwark council planning to demolish Surrey Quays Park has been met with widespread concern and disappointment. This potential destruction goes against the community's wishes, and indeed, our needs. Our community structures should not only represent economic values but also social and cultural values, which Surrey Quays Leisure Park undoubtedly holds.

We acknowledge the Council's need to develop and improve our community. However, we beg them to consider that demolishing Surrey Quays Leisure Park will not fulfill this goal. Instead, it will rob the community and future generations of a cherished recreation spot and a significant piece of our shared cultural history.

We are respectfully pleading with Southwark council to heavily reconsider their decision. It is not just about a building; it is about preserving years of memories, traditions and social bonds. It is about protecting a place which has become a part of our identity.

Please join the cause, stand up for our childhood memories and for the future generations. Sign this petition and raise your voice to save Surrey Quays Leisure Park.
