The Issue

Savannah, widely celebrated for its historic beauty and charm, faces a looming threat to its treasured aesthetic. A significant architectural gem located on Victory Drive is slated for demolition, to be replaced with yet another storage facility - the fourth on this street alone.

This beloved building crafts part of the unique tapestry of our city's rich history, adding to the character that draws countless visitors to Savannah each year. Allowing such an irreplaceable component of our cultural heritage to be destroyed for yet another common storage facility undermines our city's identity and charm.

The Metro Planning Commission has approved the conversion of the property at 2180 Victory Drive into a self-storage facility, without taking into full consideration the irreparable harm this action would cause to the historic ambiance of Savannah (source: Connect Savannah news article).

It's time we stand together to protect the heart of our community. Getting rid of our historic architecture to accommodate a towering concrete storage unit shouldn't be our reality. We must prioritize the preservation of our past and cultural identity, over short-term economic gains.

Join the fight for Savannah's heritage. Sign this petition to oppose the demolition of the historic building on Victory Drive and its conversion into a storage facility. Every signature brings us one step closer to preserving Savannah's charm and history for future generations.
