I am a third-generation farmer, tending to the land that has been in my family for decades. The progression of housing developments threatens not only my livelihood but also the legacy I hope to pass onto future generations.The attached photo is for a 51 lot development looking to be built less than a mile from me in the Asbury Community.  No one in our community wants to see this.

 Across the country, agricultural land is being razed to make way for urban development at an alarming rate. The American Farmland Trust reports that approximately 31 million acres of farmland and ranchland were lost to development between 1992 and 2012. This not only endangers our rural heritage and the sustainable provision of food, but also destroys vital ecosystems which are part of our planet's defense against climate change.

Preserving farmland benefits everyone, ensuring regional food security and safeguarding diverse ecological habitats. Furthermore, urban sprawl with uncontrolled housing projects fosters social issues like increased commuting times, congestion, and pollution, affecting the quality of life of all citizens.

Please support this plea to halt the demolition of farmland for housing developments like the one pictured here. Let's protect our rural communities, our food security, and our planet's health.
