I grew up in a world where cars were not just tools of transportation, but also icons of style, feats of engineering, and symbols of freedom. I come from a country where cars shape a collective identity and fuel economic growth, providing countless jobs. Today, the threat of this incredible and united culture, being overshadowed by Electric Vehicles (EVs), tears me apart.

While there may be environmental benefits of EVs, a complete and immediate transition disregards our entire automotive history and the economical structure built around it. This paints a concerning picture of a future where our grandchildren might not ever experience the roar of an internal combustion engine.

Our automotive history powered significant sectors of society outside of just being a means of transport – from the many industries such as film, music, sports, even computer entertainment cars have been an integral part of humanity's story. For the many people where cars are deeply embedded in their lives an abrupt shift towards EVs symbolizes erasing a large part of their heritage and who they are as a person.

Therefore, we urge authorities to balance the transition to EVs with preserving the legacy of conventional vehicles. A world inclusive of both forms of transport can exist as it currently does. Let's evolve  rather than replace and promptly erase a significant chapter of our history. It is crucial to acknowledge and honour our past as we accelerate towards a greener future.
