Halt the Censure of Representative Dave Donelson by Colorado Springs Council

Halt the Censure of Representative Dave Donelson by Colorado Springs Council
The Issue
I am, like many of us, a concerned resident of Colorado Springs. Our downtown's identity is at stake, threatened by an unwelcome transformation. Imagine our once open and beautiful views of the mountains being replaced by the shade of high-rise buildings. That's the unfortunate consequence of unrestrained growth in our city, an issue exemplified by a controversial apartment building project.
Representative Dave Donelson echoed our concerns, calling for a recusal of members of the council who received funds from the property management company that stands to gain from this development. Donelson advocates for this recusal not only for transparency and ethics but also for the interest of Colorado Springs citizens who are rightfully concerned about the detrimental impact of unrestrained development on our beloved city.
Invoking the democratic spirit of our nation, we further demand our right as citizens to vote on establishing a height limit for this and all future projects. This is an essential step in preserving the character and views of our city.
The sophistication and development of a city should never come at the cost of its natural beauty. Our city needs room to breathe; it needs its infrastructure - parking, roads, bridges, facilities, water – to accommodate any growth gracefully rather than being overwhelmed. Let's avoid a repeat of past mistakes, where overbuilding led to an onslaught of issues, including infrastructure gaps and a disrupted aesthetic.
Join us in our mission to prevent the uncontrolled sprouting of high-rises in our city. Let us make it clear to the Colorado Springs Council that they must regard the voices of their constituents. Sign the petition to stop the Council from censuring Representative Dave Donelson and establish height limits on this and future buildings by allowing the public to vote on such proposals.
