Vaping has played a truly transformational role in my family's life. The majority have been able to quit smoking - a habit notoriously difficult to break - thanks to non-nicotine vapes. However, the impending ban on these devices concerns me deeply. Not only will it cut off a proven path for smokers seeking a healthier lifestyle, but it could potentially expose younger members of society to greater danger.

Today, almost 14% of the world population smokes cigarettes, with major health risks and impacts on longevity. As documented by the World Health Organization, tobacco kills more than 8 million people each year, smokers and second-hand smokers included. Vapes provide a lower-risk alternative that significantly reduces exposure to dangerous carcinogens.

Furthermore, limiting sales to chemists only could inadvertently pave the way for a black market, making it easier for underage individuals to gain access to these devices. This is a risk we cannot afford.

We must fend for the right of mature, educated citizens to make their own decisions pertaining to their health and lifestyle. Let's halt the ban on non-nicotine vapes and permit non-chemists to retail these products. This approach is both fair and necessary to ensure the health and safety of smokers and nonsmokers alike.
