Our once beautiful community of Edenvale, known for its serene neighborhoods and family-friendly environment, is currently facing the prospect of two homeless shelters being approved for establishment. While we sympathize with the plight of the homeless, we are concerned about the potential adverse effects on our community. Studies indicate that, while homeless shelters play a vital role in societal support systems, their placement can affect local crime rates .We are particularly concerned about the well-being of our children, elders, and local small businesses.

Our town is already plagued with illegal room rentals, waste pickers, informal traders and vagrants so we do not need to burden the town any further.

Therefore, we urge our city's decision-makers to reconsider this move. This is not a rejection of homeless individuals, but rather a call for an alternative solution that considers both the welfare of those who need help and the potential impacts on established communities.
