Gold / Oil / lithium mining in Nevada and Arizona is causing irreversible harm to sacred First Nation lands. The sheer volume of mining activities is putting ecosystems and sacred cultural sites at risk. Mining leads to the disturbance of landforms, resulting in soil erosion, deforestation, and devastating effects on local flora and fauna. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hardrock mining, which includes gold mining, produces more toxic waste than any other industry in the U.S. This disrupts the balance of fragile ecosystems and impinges on the cultural rights of Native American communities to their ancestral lands.
