Well the logging has been fast and furious and the wheels of justice slow, but they are moving. We will be filing a Petition for Judicial Review in the Supreme Court of British Columbia within the week! Thousands of pages of affidavits – scientists, ecologists, fire behaviour specialists, you name it they are in there. And they all agree – this logging operation is a disaster.

What we desperately need is for you all to become members of the Stanley Park Preservation Society. Luckily that is super easy – just go to our website and click on “Become a member of SPSS” or click here. It is really important that we have as large a membership as possible when the case is heard, so if it is convenient, do it right after you read this update… please and thank you!

There is no cost to become a member, but if you have not yet donated, we could really use the funds. We just got a $25,000 bill from our legal team. Given the massive amount of work that has gone into this case so far, our lawyers are giving us the best deal they can, but the lights have to stay on in their office as well. It’s not very much if we all chip in.

To donate directly to us for our legal fees, click here to get to our donation page or copy and paste this link in your browser: https://chuffed.org/project/savestanleypark Alternatively, you can e-transfer a donation to donate@savestanleypark.ca. If you are really old school, you can send a cheque made out to SPSS, 400 - 333 Terminal, Vancouver, BC V6A 4C1.

We understand that not everyone is in a position to make a large donation, but even $10 helps. If you are in a position to shoulder a larger chunk of the financial burden, please do it for the trees and the animals and, well, you and us! If we lose these trees, we lose them for the rest of our lifetime. If the forest does come back, it will be for our grandchildren to enjoy and I don’t know about you, but I want to be able to walk in a forest once in a while…..

Keep an eye on local media this week and amplify the issue as much as you can!
