Heli Logging and MORE User Fees!
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – This week we have seen unbelievable devastation in Stanley Park as Black Tusk Helicopters joined forces with B.A. Blackwell to log our beloved trees, many not even looper-impacted hemlock. Join us in protest at the Park Board meeting Monday!
Look at the above picture of Prospect Point. The logging operation is fast and furious and it certainly seems like way more trees are being cut than were reported to Supreme Court Justice Janet Giltrow during our interlocutory injunction hearing. This operation is completely out of hand and needs to be stopped immediately! If you have a few minutes, please click here to use the online feedback form to the park board commissioners. Tell them to stop the chop!
In addition to wasting $18 million on rampant destruction of our beloved park, this Monday, November 25, 2024, the Park Board will be voting on an “amenity improvement fee” which will increase fees for recreational services. Seriously, how much of this are we going to take?
If you are as angry as we are, sign up to speak at the meeting – here is the link. It’s the first agenda item. Meeting starts at 6:30. Tell them to stop the logging and use whatever millions of dollars remaining to fund services for the taxpayers of this city.
Our legal strategy is ongoing, but in order for us not to go broke trying to save Stanley Park and the trees, we are still asking for donations. Our goal is $20,000, which is a conservative estimate of what the legal bills will come to. We got just under $1,000 last week, so we are well on our way, but if you haven’t donated and can spare $5 or $5000, click here to get to our donation page.
