

For those not familiar with our area, Stanley Park can be seen in center-top third of the above image, it's the forested peninsula beween the city and the snowcapped mountains.
One of our expert consultants has unequivocally stated:
As illustrated on your video, pre & post harvest, a good number of trees were felled that possibly had the ability to recover. Your photos also seem to indicate that a number of felled trees still had live cambium (inner bark), suggesting that they were alive when felled, and thus potentially recoverable if not felled.

I would have prescribed a much lighter extraction approach, targeting dead trees that poses a risk to human safety and infrastructure, maintaining a forest canopy where-ever possible while considering multiple entries governed by ongoing monitoring, more effectively dealing with fine fuel logging slash prevention and elimination, and reducing the probability of future wind-throw (blowdown).
