HALT HABEN HIGHRISE HELL!! - keep Croydon's character

HALT HABEN HIGHRISE HELL!! - keep Croydon's character
The issue
The owners of the Croydon Central Shopping Centre HABEN are proposing (further) amendments to stage 2 of their planned developments on this site.
The land bordering Wicklow Avenue, now car park, is proposed to be 4 towers up to SEVEN storey high which is higher then anything so far built in our town (currently the highest in Croydon is 5 storeys)
Council has already refused to support the proposed amended plans noting that they are not in keeping with the intended land use and development outcomes for the site
The matter is now on appeal with VCAT to be heard again after adjourments in Nov 2022 & March 2023.
Council and residents are also concerned that the applicant is seeking approval of substantially different plans than that already approved using a process that bars community consultation.
This development as proposed will fundementally change our neighbourhood, including blocking views of the Dandenong Ranges from Toorak Avenue Kent Avenue and other streets, and will encourage further such out of character development in the future
We moved to Croydon because we like the character as it is!
HABEN are based in New South Wales, so why should they care?!?
VCAT are in their Ivory Towers in the CBD... why should they care?!?
We live here... WE CARE!!
... So send them a message
DON'T RUIN OUR CROYDON!!!
