As someone deeply affected by the realities of global warming, I'm taking a stand for our planet and food security. Parching gardens reveal the cruel face of climate change, the unpredictable weather patterns and receding rains across many parts of the world result in dire food shortages. The main culprit? Global deforestation. Countless hectares of forests are disappearing daily, driven by greed and short-sighted policies. The time to take action is now. We envision a world where our global policies respect the invaluable role trees play in balancing our ecological system. An earth revitalized, green, and thriving in a decade. Nonetheless, to obtain this, we need a collective commitment. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations stated in 2020 that worldwide, net forest loss was 4.7 million hectares per year in the decade 2010–2020 (FAO, 2020). This loss drastically impacts our climate and contributes to devastating food shortages. To rectify this, we must advocate the immediate halt of deforestation and implement comprehensive tree planting initiatives worldwide. call upon governments, local communities, civil societies, and international organizations to recognize the urgency of this situation and jointly pledge to combat deforestation and promote tree plantation on an unprecedented scale.
