Many electricity consumers across Maharashtra have reported concerns about significantly higher electricity bills in recent months.

 Some consumers also allege that smart meters were installed without adequate prior notice or informed consent. Several have stated that they have not received satisfactory resolution despite approaching Mahavitaran's grievance redressal mechanisms.

Electricity is an essential service, and consumers deserve transparent billing, fair grievance redressal, and confidence in the metering system.

We call upon MSEDCL (Mahavitaran) and the Government of Maharashtra to:

1. Pause the installation of smart electricity meters where consumers allege they have not been given adequate prior notice or informed consent until concerns are addressed.
2. Conduct an independent investigation into reports of unusually high electricity bills.
3. Ensure complete transparency in smart meter installation, meter testing, and billing calculations.
4. Resolve genuine consumer grievances promptly and take appropriate action if any irregularities are found.
