Halt data center development on Big Break Rd in Oakley, CA

The Issue

I live just 200 yards from the proposed site for new data centers on Big Break Rd in Oakley, CA. For those of us residing so close, this development poses a grave and immediate threat to our health and the environment. The thought of breathing in compromised air and experiencing increased noise levels every day is unsettling to say the least.

Data centers, by their nature, consume massive amounts of electricity, often requiring cooling systems that can significantly impact local air quality. Our serene environment will be disrupted, and this could lead to a rise in respiratory issues and other health problems among residents who live as close as 300 yards from the proposed site.

Moreover, the environmental footprint left by data centers is sizeable. They generate a significant amount of carbon emissions, contributing to the already critical concerns about climate change. Our neighborhood, until now, has enjoyed clean air and quiet surroundings, both of which are under threat.

The introduction of these data centers would drastically alter the landscape of Oakley, impacting property values and potentially deterring new residents from moving into the area. We need to ask ourselves if this is the future we want for our community.

We call on the local government and planners to halt these plans immediately and consider alternative locations that would not place such a heavy burden on residential areas. Environmental impact assessments and health studies should be conducted transparently and involve community input.

Join me in urging decision-makers to rethink and relocate this development away from places where people live and thrive. Sign this petition to protect the health and well-being of our neighbors, our families, and the future generations of Oakley. Every signature counts as a voice for a cleaner, healthier environment.
