We are residents of Bryan, Texas, living on the very edge of an imminent change; a condo development threatens to encroach upon the beautiful natural green space behind our homes that will also intensify an already congested traffic area along Villa Maria. This green space, an ecosystem teeming with life, sits over a large creek, a hidden treasure in our community that we have come to cherish. This not just a personal issue for us, it's a community concern. Not only are we losing a vital green space, but we are also grappling with worsening traffic congestion near a school; a problem that will certainly be magnified with the influx of condo residents.

This proposed development goes beyond just our backyard—it poses a broader impact on our town and our environment. Research has shown that urbanization contributes to loss of biodiversity, with habitats typically being cleared and replaced by concrete (Texas A&M University, 2018). We need to protect these green spaces to preserve the richness and beauty of Bryan.

Moreover, the increase in traffic brought by new residents could pose a safety threat to the students of our local school and community. Do we need to risk our kids' safety walking to and from school or in the traffic congestion? Do we need the added risk of the Fire Dept being delayed due to the increasing traffic?

With this in mind, we urge local decision-makers to stop this development. Bryan deserves better; our homes deserve peace; our kids deserve a safe route to school; and our green space deserves to thrive. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
