Halt Condo Construction and Revitalize Salisbury's Boardwalk Strip

The Issue

My childhood is defined by Salisbury's sun-kissed boardwalk strip. It used to beat with vibrancy, bustling with go-carts and public attractions that gave it life. Today, it stands in gloomy contrast, its shine worn off by years of neglect. Now, imminent plans by our town to replace the remaining stores with condos threaten to erode the few remaining fragments of its past glory.

But all is not lost. Instead of investing in condos, we propose that the funds be used to rehabilitate the beachfront, restoring it to its former vibrancy. The most profitable boardwalks in America generate between $1-2M per square foot; why can't Salisbury's share the same fate? (Source: American Planning Association's Report on Coastal Commercial Recreation)

Moreover, by allocating a portion of the proposed condo investment to local arcades for renovation, we can resurrect a vibrant, family-friendly environment that once made Salisbury's boardwalk a place to create cherished memories.

It means revitalizing a public space that is loved and cherished, and protecting it from becoming just another condo development. Together, let's return the boardwalk to its glory days.
