Halt Cluster and Large Scale Developments in Fallsburg

The Issue

Drastic changes have visited our beloved town of Fallsburg. Living in this community, we've witnessed an influx of cluster developments and large scale projects that have put the year-round residents, our families, our friends and ourselves, at risk. The sudden growth in the population has severely affected our infrastructure systems, making it difficult to keep up with the demands on water, sewer, and roadways. Even more disturbing, our local emergency services are struggling to keep up with the increased demands put on them as they strive to ensure our safety. Our public safety stands compromised, and homeowners are suffering losses from being unable to draw water adequately from well systems.

These development along with zoning changes is not just a nuisance; it is a threat to our public safety and our quality of life. If this trend continues without measures in place, the infrastructure and public services will become more inadequate. Towns of similar size and density average a 30% decline in these services due to overdevelopment, which we cannot afford (source: Municipal Infrastructure and Services Study, 2018).

Our plea is clear. We urge the responsible authorities to impose a moratorium on further developments till appropriate infrastructure improvements are put in place, and local emergency services are adequately equipped to handle increased population demands. We request our town's authorities to consider the year-round residents who call Fallsburg home, consider our safety, and consider our rights as property owners. Please pause the developments now.
