Halt All Book Bannings to Uphold People's Rights

The Issue

I, along with my friends, have been deeply affected by the banning of books that we connect with. It is disheartening to see stories that resonate with us being removed under the guise of morality or protection. This practice is not only an infringement on our rights but also a denial of our freedom to access information and diverse perspectives.

Book banning has been a contentious issue for decades. According to the American Library Association, there were 377 challenges reported in the United States in 2019 alone (ALA). These challenges often result in removal or restriction of books from libraries and schools, denying readers their right to explore different ideas and narratives.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states in Article 19 that "everyone has the right...to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers." By banning books, we are violating this fundamental human right.

We must stand against book bannings as they are not only an affront to our personal freedoms but also a threat to intellectual diversity. Let's uphold people's rights by putting an end to all book bannings. Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving freedom of thought and expression through literature.
