Get rid of Kingsmead Estate, council flats. It's about time.

The Issue

"Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice." Nelson Mandela

What urged me to start this petition was because I am frustrated by the mass gentrification of the area. People are moving into the area but many are oblivious to the fact of poverty, still prelevant to this day and especially in the area. This issue will continue to get worse if people do not take action.

I was looking at the history of council estates especially in the borough of Hackney and I stumbled across photographer; Chris Dorley Brown. The photograph was simply assigned 'Homerton road 1965-2011 - A repeating cycle'

Ther first image was taken in 1965 and the second in 2011. Nothing has changed over 50 years!

The toy factory on Homerton Rd has been replaced with plush colourful flats but still Kingsmead Estate has not changed or even been replaced.

And we wonder why there are huge gang culture in the area...

The question is formed. Are people too content or do they feel like they do not have a voice?

You do! Please join and sign this petition to get rid of Kingsmead Estate and if successful the other surrounding council flats.

Thank you.
