Lakeway and Bee Cave H-E-B allow elderly people to shop 1st from 8am-10am during pandemic
The Issue
Update (6:45pm on Sunday March 15)
HEB has been actively working to make things simpler for the elderly population. They are posting actively on twitter and Facebook regarding the changes they have made. There has been a huge number of social media requests regarding seniors. I have emailed the corporate office and included our petition and also have responded to their Facebook post. I asked about the queue for curbside and delivery orders and voiced concern for some online who are waiting up to a week for a slot. Our own H-E-B was at 3 days for curbside as of yesterday. I will keep you all posted on what I hear. Thanks everyone!!
Original message:
During the pandemic our elderly people are most at risk for being affected by Coronavirus. Many of these people are scared to shop, but they need access to food and supplies. H-E-B Has announced that they will be restocking and cleaning from 8 PM to 8 AM every day. Since the stores will be clean and Well stocked by morning, it makes sense to allow These people to get their shopping done before the general public has had a chance to go in and dirty up the store again. This will allow them to feel a little safer gathering their supplies and it will also allow them a cleaner environment to do that in.
Update: there have been concerns shared with me and also a lot of other great ideas. Let me address these and know that I will include the concerns so that H-E-B can make the best decisions possible.
1) it’s not my place to dictate how achieving this idea can be done. My goal is to motivate H-E-B to make changes to their current process to help make shopping for seniors more safe. It’s possible that encouraging seniors to come to H-E-B is NOT the right action to take—lots of ideas have been given to help in other ways as well. Ultimately H-E-B will have to decide what is best for its customers.
2) ideas such as more curbside service and delivery is wonderful. Also, the elimination of the 3% fee to seniors is good too. Another idea was to set aside certain delivery times and curbside times for seniors too.
I’ll keep gathering concerns and suggestions and present them as well.
thank you,
