WE ARE NOT TRYING TO GET ANYONE FIRED WE WANT CHANGE OPINIONS IN THE COMMENTS HAVE TO BE RESTFUL OR WILL BE REPORTED

A Call for Accountability at McClure Health Science High School

Since her first day, Dr. Gypsy Hernandez, the principal of McClure Health Science High School, has fostered an environment that makes it difficult for students to feel welcome or safe. Rather than building a community, she has relied on intimidation: students face the constant threat of having their permissive transfers revoked, while teachers work under the shadow of losing their contracts.

A Culture of Silence and Dismissal

The most pressing issue is the administration's dismissive response to students advocating for their rights. Dr. Hernandez has consistently demonstrated a lack of genuine concern, addressing serious student grievances with either silence or generic, "nonsense" responses that avoid the heart of the matter.

This environment has created a dangerous disconnect:

For Students: Many feel they cannot report safety concerns because they are afraid of being labeled as liars.

For Teachers: Educators fear speaking up about school issues because they worry about their job security.

For the Community: While the school claims to want community connection, it simultaneously stifles the voices of those within its walls.

Rebuilding Trust

Trust is the foundation of a successful school, yet it is being lost when it is needed most. Both students and staff deserve to enter the building without the fear that voicing their minds will jeopardize their education or their livelihood. Everyone has the right to a safe, transparent, and supportive learning environment.

Change will not happen overnight, but by standing together—students, staff, and the surrounding community—we can demand the accountability necessary to transform our school for the better.
