Hello All
I know that those of you receiving this update by e-mail have kindly already signed the petition but I am mainly writing to remind you about the Drop In Petition Signing Session that I will be holding on Saturday (18th October) between 1pm to 4pm at Birchfield Community Centre, Birchfield Road, Yeovil, Somerset, BA21 5RL so people have the opportunity to sign the petition in person. One of the reasons I am holding the session is so those with no online access or who find it hard to do things online have the opportunity to sign. I would be really grateful if you could pass details of the session on to anyone you think may be interested. Everyone invited to attend but obviously if you have already signed the petition online unfortunately you won’t be able to sign again!
For those who are attending the in person signing session at Birchfield Community Centre just to let you know I will not be in the main hall, I will be in the Talbot Rooms which is a smaller hall towards the back of the building. Enter the building via the Entrance and then walk straight down the corridor (don’t turn right for the main hall) and go through the two sets of double doors to the Talbot Rooms.
if you are coming by car there is free parking at Birchfield Community Centre (subject to availability). If you are like me and rely on public transport the 61 bus service stops not far from Birchfield Community Centre. From when I tried out the journey I think the nearest bus stop to Birchfield Community Centre is the stop for Netherton Road (most bus drivers will know this as the stop opposite The Yellow Wagtail pub). Alternatively if you are coming from town direction, it’s nice weather and you feel like a bit more of a walk you could get off the bus at the first stop on St John’s Road just after the bus has turned into there after going down St Michael’s Avenue and passing Bucklers Mead Academy.
Finally, I was very disappointed to learn from the National Rail website that Yeovil Pen Mill station was left unstaffed again from 7am to 11am Friday 10th October, all day on Wednesday 15th October and will be left unstaffed on Friday afternoon this week (from 12:25). This is especially disheartening as BBC Somerset and BBC Points West covered my concerns about staffing at the station last week and I had hoped this may have made GWR think a little about what they are doing.
We must continue to push to change this situation.
Thank you for all your support.
Best wishes
Kath
