Homework. What most students dread. I myself am a high school student at Forest Hills Eastern High School. Homework would be better if it was not mandatory. Let me tell you why. Homework takes away social interaction with family or doing things you love. Doing things you love can later make a skill you can use in the future or towards college, you could also find more skills along the way other than those you already. Noth to mention things that could ACTUALLY be helpful as an adult. For anyone's mental state to be balanced, there shouldn't be high levels of stress or anxiety. Homework adds stress to anyone, making it worse when someone might already have enough stress to deal with. Students also have more than one class to do homework in and each teacher gives different amounts, whether it's more or less than one another. Not to mention that each student may suffer from different mental issues. For example ADD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, etc. Scientists also have done psychological research as to why homework could be worse for someone rather than for the better. An article from Healthline. An article from The University of San Diego. I have experienced a large amount of homework and let me tell you, it made my physical and mental state worse. Before I had all this work to do, I had a great time exercising, eating healthy, ok levels of stress, and ok levels of anxiety. Without so much homework, we students would be able to still learn the same amount as with it, homework is just unnecessary. The solution could be to maintain low amounts of homework and not making it mandatory for those who want/need help that can get it at home.
