Several homes in Midland Michigan and surrounding areas were destroyed or damaged from flood water caused by failure of the Edenville Dam and Sanford Dam.  The Edenville Dam has been under scrutiny since 1999 and Federal regulators revoked the project’s license in 2018, after warning for two decades that it was vulnerable to significant flooding.   Homeowners have been displaced and many have been told by their insurance companies that they are “out of luck” with regards to an insurance claim.   This is unacceptable.  Many of these people are not in flood zones, did not have to have Federal Flood Insurance, and shouldn’t have to pay to restore their homes because of the neglect of the owners of the dams that were destined for failure.   Please sign this petition to help those who have been affected or if you have been affected by the flooding yourself.    Insurance companies, the dam owners, or the government need to pay to restore or replace homeowners properties and personal property within them.
