Members of the TX Dental Board, this is an unprecedented time for dentists, hygienists, and staff across the country. And as myself, and surely many TX dentists are searching everywhere for information and resources, from dental organizations, news, and social media, we find that the use of telehealth technology to communicate with and assist dental patients is being used across the country for increasing patient access to care, both since before the global pandemic began, and now at an increasing rate during this pandemic to triage emergencies as well as protect dentists, staff, and patients from possible exposure to Covid 19.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services administrator Seema Verma, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, has also encouraged the use of telehealth services and the administration has expanded telehealth services for the 62 million seniors in the Medicare program.
Is the dental board willing to help the dentists, staff, and patients of TX needing and seeking telehealth options by proposing new or expanding current board rule Rule 108.8(c)(2)(C)? Thank you
