Thank you for your continued support and sharing.
Thank you Dr. Howard Farran, founder of DentalTown for supporting and sharing on DentalTown.

It took hours to get in, but I was able to listen in to the dental board’s meeting. I didn’t quite catch all the names during public comments, but I wanted to thank the first Doctor who spoke in support of Teledentistry and summarized the issues very well, asking the board for clarification. Also, the president of TAO, Dr. Ng spoke in support of telehealth for orthodontists.

We know that many already use Teledentistry as the ATA defines it as “the use of electronic information, imaging and communication technologies, including interactive audio, video, data communications as well as store and forward technologies, to provide and support dental care delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of dental information and education.”

I myself receive text messages from my dentist for appointments, reminders, etc. and know family members who have been invited for virtual check ins by their dentist.

As far as I can tell, the issue of telehealth use by dentists is not on the agenda of board meetings anytime soon. However, given the struggles that many are facing to just keep their business afloat and the new challenges when opening back up, telehealth or Teledentistry regulation should be the last of their worries.

We need the Governor’s assistance and waiver with this. As well, consider contacting your state leaders.

Stay tuned, as I may have to update the letter to reflect your concerns. Send me input on LI messaging.
Keep up the good work in sharing.
