***I recently found the Governor had issued a waiver to speech pathologists, audiologists, etc. to expand telehealth options. Let’s advocate the same for dentists, and dental specialists by continuing to share and spread the word because getting Governor Abbott’s attention right now is at a very high premium.

****I have read senate bill 1107 along with the TX occupations code to try to understand the board’s position that TX does not have any rules permitting Teledentistry. TX does address telehealth which they define as being used by licensed health professionals, as distinguished from telemedicine which they define as used by medical physicians. I would encourage anyone interested in this issue to research the laws, so you can see where there’s room for improvement and advocate.

I really hope that a leader from the TDA or other organizationwill be allowed to speak to the board on dentists behalf regarding Teledentistry (telehealth).

To start, how are proposals made to modify or amend a board rule? There are so many questions I would have regarding the use of telehealth in this new era and the reality that these digital communications are here to stay and moving forward. Will the TSBDE move forward with the ADA, 48 other states, dentists and patients seeking these options or will they stay and regulate, investigate, fine and discipline dentists using advanced communications?
Thank you!!! Please keep talking, asking, and sharing. Stay safe
