This photo is from a recent recital the children participated in and unfortunately is the LAST one!

The beautiful playing by the instructor and pupil was amazing to listen to, however, I had to hold back tears knowing the disappointment that the children felt at losing the opportunity to continue in their musical tutelage!

I find a small irony in that most people listen to some form of music on a daily basis and yet the school district has determined the Suzuki Strings program to be of such little value. It had been a hallmark of this district for decades and as noted on the district’s website, only 1 of 5 Suzuki programs in the ENTIRE state.

The disregard for current and future students is disheartening as I’m reasonably certain the amount spent towards the various athletic programs dwarfs the expense of this musical education.

I AM crying at the amazing response this petition has generated; so to each of you: merci beaucoup, muchas gracias, danke sehr, grazie mille, obrigado, dhanyavaad, mange tak and simply thank you for every moment you’ve spent reading these words and sending into the ether of the universe!

I couldn’t be more humbled by the grace shown by these wonderful kids who face such an educational upheaval in something that brings them and their future world joy and wonder through their playing!
