GREENVILLE TEXAS SUZUKI PROGRAM

GREENVILLE TEXAS SUZUKI PROGRAM
The Issue
The current school board has decided to discontinue the SUZUKI STRINGS program throughout the district. The program gives the opportunity for students in kindergarten and up to learn violin for a very reasonable fee. The returns for these students is immense; multiple studies have shown that children involved in music, math, foreign language and science from a young age develop more neural pathways in their brains. This benefits not only the individual but our society at large by producing individuals who contribute to the social fabric of our culture.
A very dedicated group of teachers are also losing their employment in a sudden manner.
The Suzuki program has been a hallmark in the Greenville school district for decades and losing it affects current and future students.
Please contact the Superintendent of Greenville ISD, Dr. Sharon Boothe; members of the school board and ask for reasons why the program is suspended and ask that they reconsider their decision!
At the bottom of Dr. Sharon Boothes’ CV on the GISD website is a statement regarding her commitment to the why of every decision, which should be provided to our community regarding the choice to eliminate this valuable opportunity for Greenvilles’ children.

Please ask everyone to sign this petition in hopes of renewing this program!
