The Issue

We have come to a point in this country where officers are out of control; they believe they are above the law, they believe they do not have to follow their own policies, and they believe they can assert dominance over a situation that clearly needs resolution. Police Departments have become so desperate to make quota for monetary purposes that they have employed human beings with power hunger.

This latest issue revolves around the shooting of an innocent woman because of the lack of understanding, or compassion, for someone with a clear mental disorder. Mentally ill humans do not think the same way mentally stable humans do because their brains are wired differently; in this instance, the suspect did not attempt to harm the deputy, he only asked for her compliance of respect: a thing that has become out of hand with law enforcement. There is no mutual respect between these two classes of humans because law enforcement has begun believing they are in charge and don't have to be good to their suspectsGuilty until proven innocent seems to be the mindset in this new age abuse of power.

Ashley Cure should not only lose her employment as an officer but she should be responsible for the injuries to Dianne Maros: a concerned mother who was only trying to protect her son and the deputy because she was aware of her son's issues. Instead of listening to the mother--like she should have--the deputy became irate and irrational, opening fire on the suspect and hitting his mother. Not only should she lose employment, she should be responsible for this poor lady's injuries and tried in a jury for what she has done: something that no officer is made to do because being a police officer somehow makes you exempt from the law. If this had been a civilian, they'd be in jail awaiting a prison sentence.
