Ye Old Rose & Crown is a long running pub in the centre of Greenwich London. The pub has a long history of serving the gay community but is now managed very poorly & is under threat of closing or becoming straight again. It is with regret that the current management have been "running" one of the very few gay establishments into the ground by barring many of their customers for no apparent reason. These loyal customers have been putting money over the bar for years but are now seeking others places to drink at no fault of their own. More recently the management have cancelled a charity event called The Michael Joyce Drag Race & Street Party. This annual event not only brings the community together including gay, straight, bisexual & trans locals, it makes a great deal of money for charities such as the Macmillan Cancer Trust & The Alert Kenedy Trust. It is truly an amazing day enjoyed by many with some very talented performers on stage. Greene King Brewery who own the pub are aware of the management running the pub very poorly. The management are still "running" the pub very badly which is damaging the reputation of the pub and locals are refusing to visit the pub anymore. The gay community have lost an incredible amount of gay establishments in & around London over the years & we cannot afford to let another one shut down because of poor management.
