Fire Green Bay Area Public Schools Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld

The Issue

Our school district is sinking. Seven principals in six years at Washington, over 2,000 students leaving the district for open enrollment, high teacher turnover rate and a negative public perception are all valid reasons why it is time for a new Superintendent.

We've all seen the media reports detailing the many issues at Washington Middle School.

We've all seen the heroic and passionate pleas from Golden Apple award-winning teacher Kerstin Westcott.

How can the public demand better of the school district if we don’t know what is going on? The teachers and the staff are obviously NOT free to speak! As a public school district paid for with our tax dollars, there needs to be transparency. Her leadership has instilled fear in the GBAPS staff. It is time for a fresh start with a new Superintendent for the 2017-18 school year. Her six years here have been enough.

There has been no clear leadership on turning the many issues impacting the safe, orderly, and effective education our students deserve. The lack of immediate and effective action to the outcries leads many to believe these problems are worse and more widespread than even reported.

With the talents you have for being an articulate school board member, also comes with a great responsibility. It is time for you, the school board members, to take action now on this. It can be done.

Restore the much needed faith from our community back into the Green Bay school board. While Michelle Langenfeld seems like a nice person to you, she must go. Hire an interim superintendent. It will not be a comfortable or enjoyable action for you, but it must be done.

Please sign this no later than August 20 so that we can present this in-person to the Green Bay Area Public Schools Board of Education at the August 21, 2017 meeting!
